A huge underground public toilet on Commercial Road in Spitalfields is on sale for a nifty £1 million.

The 600 square-foot one-time public toilet, which was converted into a night club 15 years ago, is being marketed as a “charming and quirky premises” for anyone who can proffer the cash.

In the early 2000s the toilet became a night club called Public Life.

But Public Life was closed in 2012 by Tower Hamlets Council after complaints about noise, drug use and licencing issues.

In their advert, property consultants Clarke and Lloyds wrote: “Formerly a public toilet, the site was redeveloped into commercial unit over 15 years ago and being used as bar/restaurant.

“The premises comprises of lower ground floor unit occupying approximately 600 square feet and from private outside seating area of approximately 435 square feet.”

It adds: “The charming and quirky premises is ideal for a number of different ventures including bars, restaurant [and] nightclub.”
